Sourdough waffles

Create these delicious sourdough waffles using discard sourdough starter for a yummy breakfast. Freeze any leftovers for a quick breakfast the kids can manage.

Sourdough starter gives these waffles such a lovely flavour while maintaining a firm texture. Top with your favorite fruits and maple syrup of course! This recipe is perfect for using up discard starter which you would normally throw away.
Sourdough waffles (Makes 10)
1 cup plain flour
1 cup wholemeal flour
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 1/4 cup milk
3/4 cup milk
1 cup unfed sourdough starter
2 large eggs
4 Tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
Method
Preheat waffle iron and butter when hot. Mix all ingredients together. Cook as per waffle iron instructions.
Cool any leftover waffles and place in a container to freeze for later. Reheat in microwave or oven.
